Full Statement:
“ I am happy to write this testimonial on behalf of a very talented art critic and essayist, Antonio Permuy.
I knew his grandmother, Marta Permuy, back in the 1960's, and at that time there were hardly any galleries in Miami. She loved art, and together with her husband, Jesús Permuy, opened one of the first Cuban art galleries in South Florida. Thereafter, all the Cuban artists living in the city at the time flocked to her in order to have their work shown.
Antonio is the grandson of Marta and Jesus, and he has made the present purpose of his life to write and promote legacy with his writings. At one time I called him "Mr. Legacy", in reference to his being so focused on the work that his grandparents were doing on behalf of Cuban art and artists. He is a gifted writer with an excellent command on the history of Cuban art of the time. He has studied the styles and work of quite a lot of artists and written about them.
Antonio understands the importance of living in a multicultural multiethnic city like Miami, and takes advantage of the different cultural approaches of the city's wide-ranging communities.
I wish him much success in the future as he continues to forge more legacies through his writings in his extraordinary career. ”
